SightRead

Read rhythm and notes at sight.

Real notation, a moving cursor and a count-in. Tap the rhythm in time, say it with Kodály syllables, and get scored on every hit. Then move on to reading notes. Free, on iPhone and iPad.

What you get

For students and teachers

Learning on your own? A daily streak, stats and an optional reminder keep short practice sessions going, and haptics confirm each tap.

Teaching? The app uses the same Kodály syllables as the classroom, Free Practice mixes a whole stage for warm-ups, and it runs on iPad. There are no accounts to set up and no data leaves the device, so it is safe to hand to a class.

Free. No ads, no accounts, no subscriptions. SightRead works offline and collects no data. Requires iOS 17 or later.

An older browser demo of the rhythm exercises is still online at play/. It covers tap-along rhythm levels only and saves progress in your browser; the App Store app is the current version.
